COVID numbers continue climbing

The total number of people testing positive for confirmed COVID-19 in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties has increased significantly over the past week.

The total number of persons testing positive in Oklahoma also has increased during the same time frame.

As of Tuesday, the number statewide stood at 21,738. A week ago it was 17,220.

That’s an increase of 4,518, the Oklahoma State Health Department reports. Three weeks ago the number statewide was 11,028.

The OSDH reported on Tuesday 993 more positive cases were confirmed and four more persons had died.

The number of combined positive cases in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties now stands at 219. It was 157 a week ago, a jump of 62.

Two weeks ago, the count was 133. There have been 86 more positive cases reported between the two counties in the last two weeks.

Of the 62 additional cases, there has been a jump of 51 in Pottawatomie County and 11 more in Lincoln County.

Lincoln County’s total count on Tuesday stood at 47. Last Tuesday, the number was 36.

Two people have died in the county since the outbreak began, the OSDH reports and 31 have recovered.

Pottawatomie County’s total number of people testing positive last week stood at 121.

On Tuesday of this week, it was 172 according to the OSDH. Two weeks ago it was 104.

Four persons in the county have died from the virus. Of the confirmed cases, 121 have recovered, the OSDH reports.

Total current hospitalizations in Oklahoma due to the virus stands at 546. Since the outbreak, 2,116 have been hospitalized, the OSDH reports.

The statewide number of deaths on Tuesday attributed to the virus stands at 428. Last Tuesday, it was 404. Two weeks ago, it was 387.

As of Tuesday, the OSDH is reporting more than 410,000 have tested negative statewide.
