A lightning bolt hit the side of the
Hampton Inn and Suites hotel in
Stroud Thursday night, August 22.
There was some debate about
whether the bolt actually hit the
hotel or not, but malfunctions to the
hotel’s air conditioning equipment
and elevator allude to the fact that
it did.
“It did strike here and our whole
system is down,” Hampton Inn and
Suites front desk supervisor Brandi
Finn said. “It did make all of our
computers go down. It also affected
a lot of things on the property.”
The strike also caused the fire
alarms to go off. Stroud Fire
Department was soon on the scene
to take care of any possible fire
and to assist with the locked down
elevator.
