Gene Mitchell McKenney, 34, of Stroud was charged with burglary in the second degree.
According to the affidavit filed by Stroud Police officer Shawn Stewart, Stewart received a phone call from Brandon Morgan with Emergency Management who advised him that he saw a man breaking into the Masonic Lodge on Main Street.
When Stewart arrived on the scene, McKenney was sitting on a concrete pillar. Stewart recognized McKenney from previous encounters.
Stewart noticed the door to the Masonic Lodge had been forced open and was damaged, according to the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, when Stewart asked McKenney if he knew what happened, McKenney said he did it with “some force that the higher power gave.”
While talking with McKenney, Stewart received another call from dispatch regarding a domestic disturbance.
Since Stewart was the only officer in town at the time he had to leave, but he told McKenney he would make contact with him later, according to the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, Stewart attempted to contact McKenney that night and the next evening, but was unable to.
A bench warrant was issued for McKenney Thursday, Mar. 19.
