Wellston High School has announced its valedictorians and salutatorian for the Class of 2023.
Valedictorians are Laura Taylor, Kaylee Danker and Kaitlyn Newton. Kolton Hunt is the salutatorian. Laura Taylor Laura Taylor is the daughter of Todd and Jenny Taylor. She has attended Wellston schools for five years. She has a 4.14 GPA and has received awards including Superintendents Honor roll for seven semesters and National Honor Society. She has been involved in Business professionals of America, Future Farmers of America, and National Honor Society. Her community involvement includes tutoring. Laura’s plans for after high school graduation are to open a bakery in Europe.
Kaylee Danker
Kaylee Danker is the daughter of Jessica Danker. She has attended Wellston schools for 12 years. She has a 4.0 GPA and has received awards including Academic All State for Basketball, Superintendents Honor Roll for seven semesters, Principal’s Honor roll for one semester, and National Honor Society. She has been involved in Basketball, Business Professionals of America, and Future Farmers of America. Her community involvement includes tutoring. Kaylee is employed at Jackson Electric and her plans after high school graduation are to attend the University of Central Oklahoma and study Forensic Science and Psychology.
Kaitlyn Newton
Kaitlyn Newton is the daughter of Jody and Von Newton. She has attended Wellston schools for ten years. She has a 4.157 GPA and has received awards including Superintendents Honor roll for six semesters, Principal’s Honor roll for one semester, and National Honor Society. She has been active in Business Professionals of America, Future Farmers of America, National Honors Society, and basketball. Her community involvement includes tutoring and being a blood donor. Kaitlyn’s plans for after high school graduation are to attend Oklahoma State University and major in Aerospace Engineering.
Kolton Hunt
Kolton Hunt is the son of Nick and Kristin Hunt. He has attended Wellston schools for 14 years. He has a 3.93 GPA and has received awards including Principal’s Honor Roll for four semesters, Superintendents Honor Roll for two semesters, National Honor Society, and twelve college credit hours. He has been involved in Future Farmers of America, Basketball, National Honors Society, and Gifted and Talented.
His community involvement includes Trinity Baptist Church youth group. Kolton is employed at Hunt’s Construction and his plans for after high school graduation are to attend Oklahoma State University and major in Civil Engineering with hopes to be a land surveyor.
