Chandler Board of Education members this week, without taking any vote, discussed possible items for a bond issue.
Chandler School Supt. Scott Baade said among the possible items discussed, “Were a new gymnasium, football field house, track field house and dressing room, a Media Center for East Side Elementary School, classroom cameras with monitors and a new Vo-Ag truck.
“The projected date would be a February vote. But we want to visit with the patrons to get their thoughts. We could have three different packages as one.”
He said one package “would be everything but a football field house and gym. We have to look at interest rates and building materials, length of a bond issue and the increase in taxes. These are all things you have to consider.
“A smaller package wouldn’t increase taxes very much, but we want to visit with our Chandler patrons,” he reiterated.
Baade indicated, “Hopefully, we’ll have the package we want to put up for our next board meeting in November.”
He said a current bond issue will expire June 30 and if the board decides to submit a new bond issue, it wouldn’t take effect until July 1 next year.
In other business, the board members adopted the annual school board election resolution. Office No. 3 on the Chandler board is up for election.
The filing period is Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 5-7.
Baade said currently Matt White holds that position and that White has indicated he plans to seek a new term.
The board approved the 2022/2023 Junior High Wrestling Cooperative Activities Program with Stroud Public Schools.
Board members also hired a Paraprofessional, MacAlyn Herring, and a Special Education teacher, Angela Gonzales.
They voted to approve an out of state trip for FFA students to participate in the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., from Oct. 23-28.
They approved the revised policy COCA, “Child Nutrition Meal Charge Policy.”
