Meeker Board of Education members this week voted to offer contracts to four new teachers and accepted the resignation of one other teacher.
Without going into executive session, board members voted to offer contracts to the following for the 2025-2026 school year. Leota Foote and Gina Crawley elementary teachers, Brett Thomas, Middle School teacher/coach and Robert Shockley, high school teacher/coach.
They accepted the resignation of Randy Ragland, Middle School teacher/coach.
During their reports, High School Principal Brad Buxton projected an enrollment for the coming school year at 268 and Middle School Principal Matt Jones projected probably 180.
Elementary Principal Sarah Flowers discussed summer school which is winding down this week that has had 16-17 students daily and the reading and fitness campus with Mrs. Pruitt which has 4550 each day.
In other business, the board members: Approved a policy update on Personal Electronic Devices which is the cell phone legislation approved by the State Legislature where students are not allowed to have access to their phones during school hours.
Approved an insurance quote of $146,706 for the 2025-2026 school year.
They also approved a new skill based report card change in grades PK-2.
Approved a quote of $24,455 for Worker’s Compensation insurance with OSAG for the 2025-2026 school year.
Approved membership with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association, subscription to Basic Policy Services, Communication Services and OSSBA Employment Services.
