The first winter storm for 2025 brought the area and much of the state lots of snow and frigid temperatures, but no major problems in Lincoln County.
Charlotte Brown, Lincoln County Emergency Management, reported that most areas of the county received up to four inches or more of snow. The snow that moved in Thursday and across the area was pretty well over by before sunrise on Friday.
Brown said, “Road conditions were good as of Friday morning. It will re-freeze Friday night, but highs Saturday were expected to be in the high 30s and low 40s.”
She said no power outages had been reported with the storm that blanketed the area with snow. Brown noted that State Emergency Management had made sure if there were any power outages they would be able to assist.
The sun was out in Lincoln County by midmorning Brown said and was shining brightly by noon in both Lincoln County and areas of Pottawatomie County.
She said State Highway Department crews had been grading and working roads. She pointed to all three county commissioners who were reportedly monitoring county road conditions.
“We had a couple of motorist assists Thursday night that county law enforcement handled,” Brown said. Several noninjury wrecks had been reported on the Turner Turnpike, but there were no major concerns there, she stated.
Brown urged motorists to take it slow, especially during evening and early morning hours.
Schools throughout the area were either closed or were going virtual.
Pottawatomie County District 1 Commissioner Melissa Dennis said no problems were reported in her area, that crews were just clearing roads.
