Summer break is over and on August 26th Beta Sigma Phi sisters gathered to catch up, enjoy some delicious food, exchange secret sister gifts and go over the new year to come. Members were also blessed with the opportunity to welcome new sister, Nancy Stephenson, into the chapter. The new year brings excitement, fun, laughter and the opportunity to serve others in our communities.
The chapter’s second meeting of the year was held on September 9th at the Stroud Housing Authority. The hostess’ were Chris Hodge, Sandy Jones and Sue Helms. The program was given by Sue Helms over the “Best Way to Make Healthy Soup”. With fall coming in, it was nice to have a few recipes to add to our kitchens! The hostesses provided a beautifully fall decorated themed buffet of pizza and fall decorated cookies.
During the meeting, the scrapbook committee presented last year’s President, Chris Hodge, with her scrapbook. The scrapbook is created throughout the year by the committee and holds all the memories of the year’s happenings. This is something every President looks forward to!
On September 16th, chapter had the opportunity to volunteer and help Bridges Across Route 66 serve dinner to attendees. Bridges Across Route 66 is a new program located in Stroud. It’s purpose is to “empower individuals to radically change their lives by discovering and overcoming barriers to their success”, stated Pam Hunt. Beta Sigma Phi is blessed to be able to “assist in any and every way”.
