Bond members elected, bond passed in school votes

Patrons in two Lincoln County school districts have elected board members and Lincoln County voters who reside in the Cushing School District helped approved a bond issue.

In Prague, Jarrod Van-Zant defeated incumbent Thomas L. Palmer and Adam D. Hogue to win the Office No. 2 seat without the need for the April 5 General Election.

Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Melissa Stambaugh reported unofficial results showed Van Zant with 244 votes to 172 for Adam Hogue and 55 for Palmer.

Van Zant garnered 51.8 percent of the vote to 36.5 percent for Hogue and 11.68 percent for Palmer.

Brown easily won the Office No. 2 seat over two candidates, Jacob Thompson and Jesse Townsend. Brown received 125 votes to 23 for Thompson and 13 for Townsend.

Those Lincoln County voters in the Cushing School District helped approve a $69,700,000 school bond issue. Figures showed five Lincoln County voters were in favor of the proposition to one voting against.

The bond issued received 587 total votes for approval while 185 cast votes against it. Proposed use of the funds is for constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings and acquiring fixtures and equipment for the school sites.
