A Chandler man with at least one previous conviction facing two new felonies has entered guilty pleas to both and drawn prison time on each count.
Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District on March 24, 2025 against Scott Grady Sweeden, 46. Those charges include failure to register as sex offender and sex offender living within 2,000 feet of a school.
Appearing before District Judge Sarah Bridge recently, Sweeden waived his arraignment, waived his preliminary hearing and the two-judge system. As the result of a plea agreement he entered a guilty plea and the judge received the plea.
Judge Bridge found him guilty as charged and sentenced Sweeden on Count 1 to five years in the Department of Corrections and on Count 2, handed him three years in DOC along with court costs. She ordered the sentences to run concurrent with each other and two cases filed in 2022. He is to receive credit for time served.
One case against Sweeden in 2022 was filed March 22 and the other was filed five months later on Aug. 15.
He was charged March 22 with the same two type of felonies as he was on Aug. 15.
Judge Bridge sentenced him to five years in DOC on Count 1 in the March 22 case and three years on Count 2.
In the Aug. 15 charges she handed him three in years in DOC on Count 1 and five years in Count 2.
All three cases are to run concurrent with each other, she ordered.
In the case filed March 24, 2025 a $5,000 bench warrant was issued the same day charges were filed.
He appeared before Associate District Judge Joe Dobry on March 26 who ordered his bond remain the same at $5,000. He made his initial appearance on Apr. 3.
Count 1 accuses Sweeden on March 6, 2025 of failing to register as a sex offender with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office with his residence being in the city of Chandler for a period of more than three days and that he was convicted of sexual abuse by caretaker in Cleveland County on Feb. 2, 2006.
In count 2 Sweeden is charged on the same day as a registered sex offender with prior conviction of living at 210 W. 9th Street in Chandler which is located 990 feet from the Chandler Memorial School which is located at 200-298 W. 6th Street.
