Charges in rape case

A Chandler man faces multiple rape charges after he was arrested recently by Lincoln County deputies.

One count of first degree rape, two counts of second degree rape and one charge of forcible oral sodomy were formally filed in Lincoln County District Court Jan. 9 against Dazshawne Stapp, 25.

He made his initial appearance before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk on Jan. 9. She set his bond at $200,000 and ordered his pre-preliminary hearing for Jan. 19.

On Jan. 19, Special Judge Emily Mueller set his pre-preliminary hearing for March 9.

The first degree rape by instrumentation charge against him states the victim was 14 at the time the alleged crime occurred.

In the second degree rape counts, Stapp is accused of having sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 16.

In each of the four felonies the charge states the alleged offense occurred between May 1, 2022 and Nov. 2, 2022.

The first degree rape count carries a punishment of up to life in prison without parole if convicted.

The two second rape charges carry a punishment for 1 to 15 years in prison if convicted and the forcible oral sodomy count carries a prison term for up to 20 years.

Lincoln County Sheriff Detective George Kelly Coleman, in a probable cause affidavit, states he was first contacted on Dec. 13, 2022 by the Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police Department.

According to the affidavit, the investigation continued and on Jan. 4 Stapp was placed under arrest and taken to jail.
