Lincoln County commissioners this week voted to acknowledge the Nov. 5, General Election results and officially document the passage of the Emergency Medical Service District 522 district by voters.
They also adopted a resolution officially establishing the 522 EMS district and set district boundaries, confirming the boundaries as approved by the vote which is all of Lincoln County.
Commissioners further took action to have legal and administrative preparations and assign the responsibilities for filings and legal compliance.
They unofficially and without taking a vote seemed to agree to have three members from each commissioner district comprise the 522 board. The commissioners apparently will appoint the members to that board.
Commissioners agreed to give consideration who might serve from their districts. Commissioners’ Chairman Lee Doolen noted, “We want a board of impartial members.”
They decided to have the issue placed again on their next regularly scheduled meeting, Feb. 18.
Commissioners also tabled any action regarding Fair Board employees after hearing from the Fair Board president and some members from the Fair Board. It will be on their meeting agenda, Feb. 18.
The Fair Board president and other members voiced support for two present employees, among them Kelly Warne, the Lincoln County Fairgrounds manager and another part-time employee.
During their meeting on Jan. 21, commissioners voted to authorize filling two positions at the County Fair Barn and appointed a group to conduct interviews and make the decision.
The positions are a maintenance worker and administrator with the maintenance worker serving as administrator on an as needed basis.
The group conducting the interview would include one county commissioner, and three others with one of those a Fair Board member.
But on Monday of this week those speaking in support of Warne and the other employee urged commissioners to just keep the present two who they indicated are doing a good job.
Commissioners also indicated during their discussions with the group they had no problem with the present employees.
Regarding the 911 Trust Authority, commissioners held a brief discussion and heard from the President of the Trust Authority, Jason Orr. He indicated, “Everything is back where is need to be and going well,” I think.
Commissioners took no action regarding the Authority.
