COVID cases, deaths jump in local area

The number of deaths and new cases in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped again in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.

Since March 31, there have been 37 more deaths in Pottawatomie County and 11 in Lincoln County. The OSDH is not providing any information on deaths regarding gender and age group as they had been previously.

The OSDH recently began reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily. The agency has stated the reason is because of the decline in COVID-19 cases recently.

The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from April 7 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, April 13.

There now have been 123 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19. That number compares to 86 at the last reporting, OSDH figures show.

Lincoln County has 69 reported deaths, up from the 58 at the last reporting.
