Lincoln and Pott counties will be well-represented at the state cross country meet at North Rock Creek on Saturday.
The meet begins with Class 4A girls at 8:30 a.m., followed by 4A boys at 9 a.m.
Class 2A girls will run at 10:30 a.m. and the boys at 11 a.m.
Class A girls will run at 12:30 p.m. and the Class A boys at 1 p.m.
Class 3A girls will run at 2 p.m. and the boys at 2:30 p.m.
Awards will be presented at the NRC football field after each class competes. Should there be rain, award presentations will be in the gym.
Chandler, McLoud and Prague boys teams qualifi ed, as did the Stroud and Prague girls.
The runners on those teams are: Chandler boys: Rhett Haley, Mark O’Keefe, Cooper Snovel, Derek Perkins, Joen McReynolds, Jackson Lail.
McLoud boys: Boyd Hamby, Kendall Shawnee, Tripp Bishop, Jacob Malendrez, Ryan Copeland, Zane Roughley and Logan Bailey Prague boys: Jaxon Buoy, Landon Hubert, Samuel Newport, Aidan Thomas, Hunter Worley Yahir Sanch, Andrew Strout andGentry Ward Stroud girls: Jordan Neeley, Jaelynn Ashpaugh, Laney Manion, Sophie Young, Peyton Davis, Javira Tilton and Brailyn Dervin.
Prague girls: Harley Johnson, Kamy Evig, Hailey Johnson Jaxi Friend, Hanna Rolette Jocelyn Ward, Ainsley Auld and Jae Evig.
Individual qualifiers are: Class A girls - Briley Hauk, Davenport Class A boys - Cooper Emmons, Davenport.
Class 2A boys - Hunter Harness, Meeker; Cole Loveland, Meeker Class 3A - Madelyn Bridge, Chandler; Lexi Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) has announced the winners of this year’s Annual Flag Retirement Essay Content, with both from Lincoln County. Chloe Gross from Chandler Junior High won the middle division, while Addison Richards from Prague High School won the high school division, according to a press release from CVEC.
“I am incredibly proud of the young people in our community,” says Kaci Dennis, Communications Coordinator, Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative. “Their participation during the ceremony shows that they understand the importance of the American flag and all it stands for—freedom, unity, and sacrifice. It’s vital that our youth learn and carry forward these traditions of respect and appreciation for our nation.”
The essay contest is part of the Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony, with this year being the 25th edition of the event. It was held on Oct. 14. Both winners received a $500 scholarship and were invited to read their essays during the ceremony, the press release said.
They were among 70 submissions entered. The essay contest was open to all schools within and surrounding CVEC’s service territories. The theme was “The American Flag & its Role in Miliary Traditions.”
