Dale approves stipends

Dale School Board members this week voted to approve stipends for all certified and support personnel using Esser II funds.

Acting School Supt. Ky Wilkins explained that certified teachers who were at Dale last year will each receive $1,400. Teachers that are new to the district this year and support personnel each will receive $600, he said.

“The Esser II funds is COVID money,” Wilkins added.

Wilkins also reviewed with the board revenue comparisons between January of 2021 and January of this year.

Through January of 2021, warrants totaled $2,731,155 and through January of 2022 the figure is $2,861,492 which is $130,337 more.

Local revenue, which is money the state cannot touch, totaled $1,077,796 through last month this year. That is $166,722 more than the district had received through January of 2021 which was $911,074.

The building fund in January of a year ago stood at $106,349. Last month it totaled $101,922 which is about $4,427 down.

The district’s cash balance in January of 2021 was $505,782. In January of this year, it totaled $831,602, That is an increase of $325,817 over a year ago.

State aid received through January of 2022 was $1,642,512 and that is $91,702 more than the $1,550,803 received through January of last year.

The County Education sales tax balance currently stands at $370,173, Wilkins said. The Stimulus Esser II account is $131,000, he advised.

And the American Rescue Program funds are $541,919, Wilkins said.

In other action, the board approved the school calendar for 2022-2023 and calculated the school year by 1,080 hours instead of 180 days.

“It mirrors this year’s calendar,” Wilkins said.

The board approved a fund raiser for the Student Council to sell Valograms. “It’s something we’ve done every year since I’ve been here,” Wilkins stated.

Board members approved a joint agreement between Dale Public Schools and Gordon Cooper Technology Center to offer certain academic classes approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

The board adopted a resolution determining the maturities and scheduling a special meeting for noon on Feb. 25 for the sale of the $670,000 building bonds for the school district and designating bond counsel for the issuance of the bonds.
