Dale Board of Education members this week approved hiring of several adjunct teachers for 20242025 and of new support staff in a capacity to be determined by the administration.
The adjunct teachers include Alex Benito, Marty Shirey, Sage Higdon and Carrie Hatley.
Support personnel hired are Justin Bower, maintenance and Andi Rector, elementary aide.
School Supt. Will Jones also informed board members regarding the upcoming school year, “The principals are ready, the teachers are ready, I’m ready and I’m excited.
“Teachers report on Aug. 12 and the kids show up on Aug. 15 for the start of school,” he said.
“This is the first time since I’ve been here that we didn’t have a first-year principal, all the school secretaries returned to the positions they had at the end of school last May,” Jones said.
He also told board members that last summer about 350 maintenance projects, some very small, were completed and this summer 450 projects have been done so far.
“We have more cameras, we have purchased two Activity buses the we paid for and we had a huge mid-term increase this past school year due to growth. Esser funds are gone,” he noted.
“We are growing,” he advised board members. “We’ve added a little staff at the high school and we have great balance right now,” he said.
During his superintendent’s report, Jones reviewed financial information showing the building fund cash balance for July of 2024 was $373,158 compared to $287,348 in July of 2023.
The General Fund cash balance in July this year stood at $1,532,009 and a year ago in July it was $547,276.
The County Sales Tax balance in July this year stood at $401,820.
That is down from the $615,648 in July of 2023.
