Jones comes to town with first place on the line
The playoff picture in District 2A-2 should snap into sharper focus Friday night after the No. 3 Chandler Lions host the No. 2 Jones Longhorns.
After last week’s games, the teams are tied for first in the district with 4-0 records.
In addition to the immense bragging rights that come with being district champions, there are practical benefits, as well.
The top two teams will get home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs, but the champs will play the fourth-place team from District 2A-1 while the second-place team faces the third-place team from 2A-1.
Thus, the champions typically have an easier path to the second round.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Joe Telford Field.
