Early voting for the April 2 Board of Education General Election starts Thursday, March 28 for voters in Lincoln County and several area school boards have contested races.

Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Melissa Stambaugh said early voting will be held Thursday, March 28 and Friday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the courthouse located at 811 Manvel in Chandler.

Early voting is not available at polling locations on those two days, she said. However, on Tuesday, April 2, voters must go to their respective polling locations to vote on that day.

School board races and the candidates include: Meeker, Leonard Buoy and Jason Hessman.

Prague, Coty Davis and Travis Provaznik.

Stroud, Jerred Eversole and Holly A. Thompson.

Wellston, Tyler Barnes and Eric Bozeman.

Voters in the Prague School District also will decide a $28,330,000 bond proposition to provide funds to be issued in series for the purpose of constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings and acquiring school furniture, fixtures and equipment and acquiring and improving school sites.

Lincoln County voters residing in the Luther School District will decide a $28,600,000 bond issue to provide funds for the purpose of performing improvements at the elementary school site and performing improvements at the middle school site, constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings.

Stambaugh said early voting is open to all voters. “You do not need to provide an excuse to vote early. Oklahoma allows early voting for all elections conducted by the County Election Board or State Election Board— from school board and municipal elections to state and federal elections. This is a great option for those who will be out of town on Election Day or who want to avoid long lines,” Stambaugh said.
