Elections next week

Voters in some area communities in Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties will decide school board and municipal contests in next week’s April 6 election.

In one school district, Meeker, voters also will decide a $850,000 bond election and in Prague, voters will cast ballots on whether to extend the one cent sales tax for five years.

Early in-person voting begins today, April 1, and Friday, April 2, at the Lincoln County and Pottawatomie County Election Boards from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Melissa Stambaugh reminds voters the election board is located in the county courthouse in Chandler at 811 Manvel Avenue, Suite 15.

Jeanne Stover, Pottawatomie County Election Secretary, reminds voters the election board office is located at 14101 Acme Road in Shawnee.

School Board elections:

Lincoln County:

Meeker: Office No. 5, Josh Elliott, Robyn Miller, unexpired term. Voters will decide two bond propositions totaling $850,000. Proposition 1 totals $670,000 and Proposition 2 is for $180,000.

Stroud: Office No. 4, Jerred Eversole, incumbent, Kenny Patrick, unexpired 3-year term.

Wellston: Office No. 1, Eric Bozeman, incumbent, Crystal Hull.

Prague: Office No. 1, R. Fred Simek Jr., Kiley Bailey, incumbent.

Perkins-Tryon: Office No. 1, Rick Lomenick, Jessie Johnson.

Paden: Office No. 1, Maryann Tinsley, Deven Shane Mills.

Pottawatomie County:

Dale Office No. 1, Rory Shane Brewster, Tim Collins, incumbent.

Municipal Elections in Pottawatomie County:

McLoud: At-Large, James Woods, incumbent and Larry Dillon.

Municipal Elections in Lincoln County:

Town of Wellston:

Three Trustees positions, each four-year terms.

Randall Danker, Michael D’Amours, Patricia Parker, Brandon Hunt, Charles Danker, incumbent, Shasta Berry.

The three receiving the most votes will each win a Trustee position.

In Carney, one Trustee position, unexpired twoyear term: Jacob Thompson, incumbent, Marc Hughes, Connor Hughes.

In Davenport, for Treasurer, four-year term, Carol Ward, incumbent; Madison Blakley and Joy L. Walker.

Also in Davenport, three Trustees positions, each four-year term:

Brett J. Baldwin, incumbent, Lisa Taylor, Wes Mattheyer, Dennis Bales. The three receiving the most votes will each win a Trustee position.

In Prague, voters will decide on the extension of the one cent sales tax for five years. It will be used specifically as follows:

25 percent for street improvement; 25 percent for emergency reserve; 50 percent for Capital needs.
