Emergency incapacity ballots available June 15

Registered voters who become physically incapacitated after the deadline to request an absentee ballot and cannot make it to the polls still have an opportunity to cast their ballot.

Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Dena Jo Bromley said that state law permits voters who become emergency incapacitated after 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, to vote under special provisions. Bromley said emergency incapacitation is something most voters don’t think about. “Voting is our constitutional right, but life happens. Injury, illness, or even childbirth can prevent a voter from being able to go to the polls. That’s why it’s important to make sure voters know their rights in the event of an emergency,” she said.

If you or someone you know becomes physically incapacitated after 5:00 p.m. on June 15, contact your County Election Board as soon as possible. Bromley says Election Board officials will work with you to make sure you have all of the necessary information to cast your ballot. Information can also be found on the Oklahoma State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections.

The Lincoln County Election Board is located at 811 Manvel Ave and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Election Board officials can be reached at 405-258-1349 or by email at lincolncounty@elections.ok.gov.
