Felony charge for Meeker man

A Meeker man faces a felony DUI charge and several misdemeanor counts following his arrest recently by Meeker police.

The charges were formally filed in Lincoln County District Court on April 18 against Tyler Marc Armitage, 22.

Armitage appeared before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk on April 18 and he was ordered to reappear May 5. She set a $2,000 bond for Armitage.

On that date, Special Judge Emily Mueller scheduled his pre-preliminary hearing for 1:30 p.m. June 23.

The felony DUI charge, a second and subsequent offense, accuses Armitage of driving a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee along U.S. 62 and 3490 Road in Lincoln County while under the influence of intoxicating alcohol.

State prosecutors filed supplemental information in the case showing that on June 25, 2019, in Cleveland County District Court, Armitage was convicted of the misdemeanor offense of driving under the influence/actual physical control under 21 years of age.

The misdemeanors Armitage faces include carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, transporting an open container of an alcoholic beverage, operating a vehicle with expired registration and failure to keep right.

The carrying a firearm count accuses him of having a 9 mm Glock pistol with 15 live rounds in a magazine while under the influence.

The open container count charges him with transporting an open bottle of Captain Morgan Rum that was accessible to him while he was driving his vehicle.

He is accused also of driving the Jeep Grand Cherokee with an expired dealer’s tag.

And he is charged with not keeping to the right of center in the roadway.

Meeker Police Officer Raymond Macklin, in a probable cause affidavit, states that he observed Armitage cross the center line three times.
