Felony drug charges

A Chandler woman faces a felony drug count and a misdemeanor after she was arrested by Chandler police officers in early February.

Christi Leigh Ebers, 41, was formally charged Feb. 24 in Lincoln County District Court with distribution of controlled dangerous substance–including possession with intent to distribute.

She also was charged with the misdemeanor of operating a vehicle with defective equipment or unsafe conditions.

The felony count accuses Ebers of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute in Lincoln County on Feb. 1 of this year. The misdemeanor charges her with operating a motor vehicle on Feb. 1, 2021 in Lincoln County without proper functioning tag lights and brake lights.

She was arrested on Feb. 1 by Chandler Officers Dax Phipps and Brent Berry.

Special Judge Emily Mueller set bond for Ebers at $5,000 and slated an initial appearance for her today (March 4).

In an affidavit filed by the officers, the drug offenses listed include possession of CDS (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of CDS (marijuana) with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It also says Ebers was transporting an open container of liquor and had defective equipment.

Officer Phipps states in facts and circumstances as part of the affidavit that Chandler Dispatch advised of a transfer call from the Lincoln County 911 Com Center. An off duty Meeker Police Officer had called to report a possible intoxicated driver.

Phipps reported he and Officer Berry responded to SH 18 and the railroad overpass. Phipps said he pulled over at the overpass and Berry continued south to intercept the vehicle.

The affidavit states Berry passed by the vehicle and he noticed its speed was 74 miles per hour. Berry also observed the vehicle go left of center as it entered the curve.

While Berry was making a u-turn, the vehicle passed by Phipps and Phipps pulled in behind the vehicle and he noticed the vehicle’s tag lights were nonfunctional, the affidavit continues.

The vehicle came to a stop at the stop sign, and as the vehicle made a right turn onto 15th Street, Phipps reported he activated his lights and made a traffic stop on the traffic violations just east of SH 18.

According to the affidavit, officers spotted a metal lock box in Ebers’ vehicle. Even though the box had her name on it, she claimed it was not hers and that she had picked up the box at her sister’s in Moore.

Officers said they could smell the odor of fresh marijuana coming from the vehicle. They discovered an assortment of drugs, paraphernalia, a couple of loaded syringes and powdery substances in the box.
