Captain Riley Pitts:
The family of Army Capt. Riley Leroy Pitts sits around the sign marking the street named after him in the Chandler VFW on Aug. 31. The VFW Post held a ceremony to recognize the Medal of Honor recipient. Capt. Pitts was the first African American officer given the honor in the Vietnam War. He lost his life during his heroic efforts. The road in front of the post has been named after Capt. Pitts. In the front row, from left to right, Mark Pitts, Capt.
