Local college students receive honors

Three Lincoln County residents recently received various honors from universities.

Kyla Zapata from Stroud was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, Cade Harelson from Chandler graduated from Emporia State University, and Elizabeth Moore from Chandler made the Dean’s Honor Roll at Fort Hays State University.

Kyla Zapata was initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Texas Tech University this month. She is among the roughly 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff, and alumni who are inducted into thsociety each year. Members are invited to join and must be nominated and approved by a local chapter.

Cade Timothy Harelson was one of nearly 500 students who graduated from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, in December 2023. Harelson graduated with a Master of Science in Health, Physical Education and Coaching.

Elizabeth Moore was one of 1,646 students named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the Fall 2023 semester at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. To be eligible, students must have completed 12 or more credit hours and earn a minimum gradepoint average of 3.6.
