A man who resides in Meeker was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol after an incident earlier in March, according to court documents.
The felony charge was filed on March 23 by District Attorney Adam Panter against Jacob Levi Walker, 34. Court documents stated that Walker operated a vehicle on a public highway at Bankers Hill and Dawson.
Walker was previously convicted of driving while under the influence of alcohol on Oct. 13, 2021, the documents said.
According to the probable causeaffidavit,Meeker Police Ofc. Nick Roe was riding with Ofc. Kyle Crow at around 12:13 a.m. when he noticed a blue Mercury Mariner with defective equipment. Crow initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Carl Hubbell and Dawson in the parking lot of the Sinclair.
The affidavit stated that Crow made contact with the driver, later identified as Walker. After speaking with him, Crow returned to the patrol vehicle and informed Roe that he smelled an alcoholic beverage and hadarrestedWalkerforDUI before. When asked if he had been drinking, Walker reportedly said he had three drinks that night.
Roe conducted a field sobriety test with Walker, noting that he exhibited multiple clues that he was intoxicated, the report said. Roe then informed Walker that he was under arrest for driving under the influence and handcuffed him. The report said Walker consented to a breath test and was taken to Shawnee Police Department, where he had a BAC of 0.10.
Walker was then transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked.
