Meeker Town Board approves budgets

Meeker Town Board of Trustees have approved both the General Operating and Public Works Authority budgets for 2025-2026.

They unanimously approved a General Operating budget of $923,040 which is about $76,000 different than the current budget which ends June 30.

They also adopted a resolution on the budget that begins July 1.

Town Administrator Jeff Welbourn told board members, “It’s fluid and dynamic,” Meeting as the Public Works Authority later they approved a $1,080,250 budget for 2025-2026 that starts July 1.

The Town’s legal counsel James Hodgens advised Trustees court hearings have been set on two dilapidated properties. He said a hearing is set for June 26 on the Lincoln County property in Meeker and on July 10 in Cleveland County on the Jackson property.

Without going into executive session, Trustees took the following action.

Town Clerk Mary Conner will go from full time status and move to part time status starting June 27, 2025.

Kimberly Haynes becomes the new Town Clerk effective June 27, 2025.

Jody Vaughn was accepted as Court Clerk. They agreed to pay the Worker’s Compensation Plan renewal with $9,440.03 coming from the General Fund and the PWA paying $1,238.85.

In other business, Trustees: Appointed Barbara Stearman and Derrick Shouse as new Trustees to the Meeker Industrial Authority Board.

They took no action on a residential building permit for Jarrod Cundie.

In his report, Welbourn advised food boxes are being given away each Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the fire station at Town Hall.

He told Trustees that volunteers have been helping with cleanup of the horse trails at Meeker Lake.

He is meeting with USDA on the Meeker Lake project.

He informed Trustees that House Bill 1095 which was approved allowing municipal employees and Trustees to carry a firearm in and around city hall if the board approves. It takes effect Nov. 1, 2025.

Meeting as the PWA, they approved a $56,477 deposit into the OWRB REAP account.

They agreed to pay the following: Pay 1 Application 2 to Diversified Construction in the amount of $44,794.50.

To pay Infrastructure Solutions Group $4,960. To pay Infrastructure Solutions Group $7,915. To pay Infrastructure Solutions Group $1,192.50. They agreed to raise trash rates only three percent beginning immediately.
