OTA awards $38.4m Stroud plaza, work

At a special meeting on Monday, Sept. 23, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority board unanimously voted to approve the construction contract award for the pavement widening and service plaza reconstruction project on Turner Turnpike by Stroud.

The $38.4-million contract was awarded to Becco Construction, which had the lowest bid, according to Darian Butler. There were four bidders for the project. Becco’s was still about 6.8 percent over the engineer’s estimate, Butler added. He estimated that the project will take about 425 days once construction starts, with a 90-day flex.

The board also approved a 15-day extension to award the contract in line with the Oklahoma Public Competitive Bidding Act. Bids were opened for the project on Aug. 15.
