A woman who was employed as a full time in-home nurse and charged with child abuse following her arrest by Lincoln County deputies has waived a speedy trial.
Candice Elizabeth Bootenhoff, 39 at the time, of Luther was formally charged Oct. 31, 2022 in Lincoln County District Court with felony child abuse.
Her bond was set at $25,000 and she made her initial appearance on Dec. 1, 2022.
Appearing recently before District Judge John Canavan, she waived a speedy trial. The cause was continued by agreement and set for the felony disposition docket on Dec. 17.
Bootenhoff is accused on Oct. 24, 2022 at a residence in Wellston in Lincoln County of maliciously harming or threatening to harm a 17-year-old child when the defendant accepted responsibility for the care and supervision of the child by slapping the child’s hands and by carrying the child by her arms and legs.
In a probable cause affidavit, a Lincoln County investigator stated he was notified by Deputy Jimmy Brown around 4 p.m. on Oct. 25 that he had been dispatched to a child abuse complaint.
