A motorist who originally charged with a felony and two misdemeanors after he was arrested by a state trooper on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County has been found guilty and drawn a deferred prison term.
Formal charges were filed May 3 in Lincoln County District Court against Steven Mitchell Jones, 31, of Skiatook.
The felony he faced was distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance including possession with intent to distribute. The misdemeanors were possession of CDS and unlawful possession of paraphernalia.
His bond was set at $20,000. He made his initial appearance May 5 before Special Judge Emily Mueller and she ordered him back in court for a pre-preliminary hearing on June 23.
Jones appeared recently before Judge Mueller and waived his rights to a preliminary hearing. The judge scheduled his arraignment for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 29.
Last week, appearing before District Judge Cindy Ashwood, he was found guilty on all counts and the judge handed him three-year deferred prison terms on four of the counts. On Count 1, distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance including possession with intent to distribute, he was also given a $300 judicial assessment, $100 VCA and court costs.
