Updates from Meeker Town Hall

1. Update on T-SET (Tobacco Settlement)

A. 12 signs were placed on Culver St. designating it as a bicycle pathway to and from our Elementary School. This should elevate our T-SET program to a Gold level. This will mean an additional $12,000 we will receive. The Town has already received $22,000 for our Bronze and Silver accreditation. This money was used for the Glenn Crest Park. The $12,000 has yet to be determined where to be applied. It will take several months to get the money.

2. Update on “Light up the Park”

A. Debbie Williams is still adding displays and lights at the Park.

B. The Parks hours are 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. with lights on at 5 P.M. till 10 P.M. Drive by and enjoy. Displays will be up until end of January 2021.

C. Please make plans to represent your Co., Church, Business, or others next year.

3. Update on Glenn Crest Park

A. Concrete contractor, Britches Ryerson, is back after his family battle with the Corona virus. He is welding, placing rebar and tying rebar in the next to last pour section for parking lot.

4. Update on Corona Virus Vaccinations

A. These are going to be conducted in phases. Watch the T.V. and read this paper for what phase they will have you scheduled for. I also hear people say they are not going to take a shot. I guess that will be an option like wearing or not wearing a mask. We do still live in America and we still have a Constitution we live by. Time will tell how all this plays out. But I do know this, if we carry on using good common sense with keeping 6’ distance from each other and washing our hands often, keeping our surroundings clean and sanitized as we all have been taught just makes good sense.

5. Update on Christmas

A. We hope everyone had a great Holiday and enjoyed the warm weather and had time to spend with friends and family.

6. Update on New Year 2021

A. Let us all use 2020 as hindsight and make 2021 a year for Faith and Hope.

B. Think first before action.

C. Continue to be positive about all the things you do.

D. Carry on with the Love you have been sharing with your neighbors, friends, and family.

E. Hopefully, the rest will be easy.

7. Update on Towns Annual Audit

A. Autumn Williams conducted our Annual report. She advised that for the third year in a row our Town has made substantial improvement. If we continue on with a few minor adjustments, the Town will be where it needs to be financially. That is if 2021 has no curve balls or financial upsets.

B. Summary: Keep on doing what we are doing.

C. Make a few adjustments.

D. This is where the Towns people come into play.

*Thank you and please continue to support all of our local business and churches

*That tax money stays at home

*Continue to social distance – staying 6’ apart

*Continue to wash hands often
