Body

Officials at Stroud High School announced the Valedictorians and Salutatorian for the graduating class of 2021.

Students achieving a 4.0 or higher grade point average during their high school years include Kristen Beaver, Madison Ham, Lani Hensley, Brooke King, Chloe Knipp, Macey Morris, Raigan Newnam and Jadyn Young.

The class Salutatorian is Molly Bond.

Kristen Beaver

Kristen Beaver is the daughter of Ted Beaver and Michelle Beaver.

A member of National Honor Society, she consistently earns a spot on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. She is a member of the SHS Gifted and Talented Program and Academic Team. She was named an Oklahoma Academic Scholar and Academic All-State.

She was part of the SHS district championship basketball team and was named Rt. 66 Conference All Academic. She was a state qualifier in cross-country this year.

Kristen also participated in Junior Chamber of Commerce; Student Council; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Her future plans are to further her education to obtain a degree in the field of medicine.

Madison Ham

Madison Ham, the daughter of Travis Ham and Melody Ham, is a member of the Oklahoma and National Honor Societies and the SHS Academic Team. She is an Oklahoma Academic Scholar and was selected to serve as a delegate to Oklahoma Girls State.

A participant in track and cross-country, she was on the 2019 state runner up team in the 4x400 meter relay, which beat the school record. She was named Cross Country All State in 2020.

Madison was on the SHS Pom Team. They were named Oklahoma State Dance Team Directors Association All Region Champions, Universal Dance Association All-American and 2019 Hip Hop State Champions.

Lani Hensley

Lani Hensley is the granddaughter of Jeff and Vicky Hankins. Consistently listed on the Superintendent’s Honor, she is a member of the National Honor Society and the SHS Academic Team. She took concurrent classes in U.S. History 1877 to Present, English Comp I & II, Pre-calculus I and Business Leadership. She was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors.

Lani was involved in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America serving as vice president of community service and of public relations and was vice president of student council. She was on the Junior Chamber of Commerce and participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She served as a manager for track.

She was on the SHS Pom Team achieving state runner-up. She was Homecoming Attendant her junior year and this year was the Homecoming Queen.

She worked throughout her high school years at Five Star Barbeque and childcare.

Lani’s goal is to become a pediatric nurse practitioner. She plans to earn a bachelor’s in science and nursing before applying for a nurse practitioner program.

Brooke King

Brooke King is the daughter of Don King and the late Vickie Rhinehart. She is a member of National Honor Society and has been listed on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll all four years of high school.

She was on the SHS Academic Team and participated in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; Student Council; Future Farmers of America and Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Brooke’s future plans are to attend a four-year university to obtain a degree.

Chloe Knipp

Chloe Knipp is the daughter of Chris and Tammy Knipp. She is a member of the Oklahoma and National Honor Societies and maintains a spot on the President’s and Superintendent’s Honor Rolls.

She received the Tiger Spirit Award and the Heart Award and was a Family, Career and Community Leaders of America All Stars Events District Contest Winner.

Chloe was involved in Pom for seven years helping her teams to achieve Pom State Runner Up, Hip Hop State Champions and Hip Hop, Pom, and Kick State Runner Up in 2021.

She was in show choir and involved in musicals earning an Outstanding Vocal Performance Award, superior ratings as a soloist, show choir ensemble and show choir group. Chloe was presented the Heisman Scholarship Award for Stroud High School.

She also participated in Junior Chamber of Commerce, Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

After graduation, Chloe plans to pursue a career in nutritional human health sciences and dietetics at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.

Macey Morris

Macey Morris, the daughter of JP and Brandy Morris, maintained her 4.0 grade point average while taking concurrent classes through Oklahoma City Community College. She is a member of Oklahoma and National Honor Societies and took part in the SHS Gifted and Talented Program.

She was class president for three years and this year served as student council president. As a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, she served as secretary and marketing coordinator.

Macey earned multiple sports awards including two-time state qualifier in slow pitch and state semi-finalist and qualifier in fast pitch. Her accomplishments in track include state qualifier in the 800 meter run and mile relay and two-time state qualifier in the 300 meter hurdles.

She also participated in basketball and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

During high school, Macey worked as a farm and hay hand and also at Smalley’s Fireworks Stand and Five Star Barbeque. After graduation, she will attend Ottawa University to pursue a degree in environmental safety.

Raigan Newnam Raigan Newnam is the daughter of

Raigan Newnam is the daughter of John D. and Sheana Newnam. She is a member of the Oklahoma and National Honor Societies and consistently earned a spot on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. She was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors.

As a member of the SHS Pom Team, she helped them earn multiple awards including state champions. She served as team captain, was named an All-American Dancer and received the Leadership Award.

She was in show choir and involved in musicals achieving state qualifier for show choir and choir soloist. Raigan was Homecoming attendant for freshman football and freshman, sophomore and junior choir and this year was Choir Queen.

She served as vice president and president of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America and vice president of National Honor Society. She was also involved in Junior Chamber of Commerce; Student Council; Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Archery.

Raigan worked during the summers as a lifeguard for the City of Stroud.

Jadyn Young

Jadyn Young, the daughter of Ron and Jennifer Young, is a member of the National Honor Society. She earned multiple sports awards including All-State, All-Conference Most Valuable Player and All-districts Pitcher of the Year for fast pitch. In basketball, she was named All-Star, All-Conference Most Valuable Player and All-Region.

She also participated in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America; Junior Chamber of Commerce; Student Council; softball and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

After graduation, Jadyn plans to play basketball at Barton Community College in Great Bend, Kan.

Molly Bond

Class Salutatorian Molly Bond is the daughter of James and Leann Bond. She is a member of the National Honor Society and consistently earned a spot on the Principal’s and Superintendent’s Honor Rolls.

She was part of the State Runner Up team in Pom and the state-qualifying group in Show Choir.

She was Student Council Secretary and also participated in Junior Chamber of Commerce and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.

Molly will continue her education at Oklahoma State University pursuing a degree in aviation management while obtaining her commercial pilot license.
