A jury trial date has been scheduled for a Wellston attorney and her reported accomplice on drug related charges and a firearms count.
A reported accomplice accused of five drug related and firearms counts, also has been bound over to stand trial as well.
Formal felony charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court Dec. 6, 2022 against Debra Dawn Campbell, 59. The charges include trafficking in illegal drugs, unlawful possession of Controlled Drug with intent to distribute, acquire proceeds from drug activity and possess firearm during commission of a felony.
Three days after Campbell was charged, on Dec. 9, the District Attorney’s Office filed five felonies against Michael Allen Kulp, 40, also of Wellston.
Lincoln County deputies served a search warrant on the attorney’s property and arrested her prior to the formal charges being filed.
During their arraignments on April 4 before Special Judge Emily Mueller, Campbell pleaded not guilty. Kulp also pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Judge Mueller scheduled their trials for 9 a.m. June 5 and set each of them for the felony disposition docket at 9:30 a.m. May 16.
The judge advised Campbell that one positive test will result in automatic bond revocation and that she needs to start making payment on the ankle monitor she is wearing.
A source with the Sheriff’s Office said, “It’s believed they operated in a coordinated effort.”
Count 1 accuses Campbell and Kulp on Dec. 2 of trafficking in illegal drugs by possessing not less than 20 grams of Methamphetamine, a Controlled Dangerous Substance.
They are charged in Count 2 of unlawful possession of CDS with intent to distribute on the same day by possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Count 3 accuses the two of acquiring proceeds from drug activity by receiving or acquiring proceeds and concealing the proceeds and/or engaging in transactions involving proceeds derived from any violation of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance Act.
In Count 4, they allegedly possessed a rifle while in the commission of a felony, trafficking in illegal drugs and/or unlawful possession of a Controlled Drug with intent to distribute.
Count 5 it’s alleged Kulp possessed a firearm at the residence he was residing after Kulp had previously been convicted of a felony in Oklahoma County District Court on Sept. 8, 2022, specifically possession of a stolen vehicle.
