Wellston woman injured in crash

A three-vehicle traffic collision on SH 66 west of Wellston injured a Wellston woman after she was pinned for nearly 30 minutes.

State Trooper Conner Fryrear identified the injured woman as Andrea M. Clardy, 37.

She was taken by MediFlight to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in good condition with leg injuries, the trooper said.

Clardy was pinned for approximately 29 minutes before being freed by Luther and Wellston Fire Departments using the Hurst Tool, Fryrear said.

The collision occurred around 2:52 p.m. on SH 66 three miles west of Wellston at County Road 3300 in Lincoln County. The road was closed for nearly two hours, the trooper reported.

The trooper said a 2018 Ford Fiesta driven by Susan J. Chase, 62, Wellston and Clardy, who was driving a 2007 Dodge Caliber, were both traveling eastbound on SH 66. He reported the vehicle driven by Chase struck the rear of the vehicle driven by Clardy causing her car to cross the center line.

It was struck head-on by a westbound 2020 Freightliner semi-truck driven Aaron K. Martin, 50, of Forney , Texas, Fryrear reported.

Chase refused medical treatment at the scene for a head injury and Martin was not injured.

Fryrear listed the cause of the collision as following too close.

He said condition of each of the three drivers at the time of the collision was apparently normal.
