Edith Mae Phipps was born September 3, 1929, in Yukon, Okla., and died Thursday, September 3, 2020, in Chandler. She was 91 years old.
Phipps, the daughter of Jim and Ethel (Major) Welch, married Wayne Orrin Phipps on May 6, 1960.
A 1949 graduate of Chandler High School, she worked at the Lincoln County Extension office and was a member of Carney First Baptist church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her hus-band; her sister-in-law Marguerite Russell; and her siblings, Edgar Lewis, Dortha Faye, Earl Hardin, Roland Augusta, Jimmie “Jay” Major, Imogene Franklin-Jones; Kelsey Milton, Willa June Kalka, and infants Earl Hardin and Edgar Lewis.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, David Phipps of Washington, Okla., Mayva and Mark Hicks of Chandler; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and other family and friends.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Carney Cemetery under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
