Harold Lee “Hap” Davis passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on April 6, 2022, at the age of 88.
Harold was born to Virgil Lee and Mary Ella Davis on March 16, 1934, in Sparks, Okla.; where he lived until he served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. On September 5, 1962, he married Shirley (Lawrence) Davis in Carnegie, Okla. They lived their entire 59 years together in Sparks.
Harold worked for the Oklahoma State University Horticulture Dept. in the Pecan Research Station for 31 years and retired as a Senior Horticulturist. He did all aspects of farming and was known as the “best gardener around” because he could grow anything. Other outdoor hobbies were willow pole fishing and mushroom hunting. He was a talented guitarist and his fiddle playing earned him the nickname, “Fiddler.” He also owned a sawmill.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; son, Karl Lee “Bud” Davis and sister, Ruby Lois Stowers.
Harold is survived by wife, Shirley; sons: Kirk Alan Davis of Sparks, Harold Kent Davis and wife, Beverly, of Sparks, James Mark Davis and wife, Candy, of Sparks; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and a host of friends.
A graveside service was held April 9, 2022, at the White Dove Cemetery, Sparks. Arrangements were under the direction of AE Funeral Services in Shawnee, Okla.
