Philip Noel ”Phil” Boyd Jr., born Aug.
27, 1946, departed this life on Jan. 23, 2023, in Oklahoma City surrounded by family.
Phil was born in Sayre, Okla. to Philip Noel Boyd Sr. and Winifred (Fullerton) Boyd. He was a 1964 graduate of Sayre High School and 1969 graduate of Oklahoma State University.
Phil married Susan E. Helberg on Aug. 9, 1970, in Ardmore. He worked at the Lincoln County News and at Chandler Public Schools.
Phil spent many years as a volunteer in the local Cub Scout and Boy Scout community and served in many roles at Central Church of Christ in Chandler. He enjoyed playing chess and spending time with family and friends when he wasn’t taking photos or enjoying a theater performance.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, sister Phyllis N. Boyd, and his brother, Robert E. Boyd. He leaves behind sister Linda Maddox and husband Johnny of Oklahoma City, wife Susan E. Boyd of the home, son Trevor Boyd and daughter-in-law Holly of Davenport, and daughter Kirstan Boyd of Edmond. Also bereaved are bonus granddaughter Susan “San” Forsyth and husband Travis of Davenport, Lucille “Lucy” Cannon of Paden and Bonus Grandson Thomas Mason of Shawnee, sister-in-law Janet Boyd of Chandler, nephew Cody Boyd and wife Alexandria and grandnephew Watson of Edmond.
A memorial service was held Jan. 29, at the Chandler High School Performing Arts Center under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Chandler.
