Sherry Lee Wright, resident of Shawnee, Okla. passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022. She was 74 years old.
Sherry was born in Moore, Okla. to her parents, Ludie Smith and Margaret Foster.
After graduating from high school, Sherry worked at Western Electric in Oklahoma City. It was there that she met a farm boy named Rick Wright who would eventually become her loving husband of over 50 years. Together, they worked in the dairy business and later, purchased an electrical business.
Sherry’s love for God was strong and her faith, unwavering. She was baptized by Rick’s brother, Tom, which brought her a level of peace and comfort words could not describe.
Sherry was passionate in everything she did, including being a mother and grandmother. After retirement, Sherry and Rick enjoyed traveling to see family or visit historical locations. Their favorite destination was Hawaii.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Smith; sister, Patricia Purifoy and brother-in-law, Kenneth Purifoy.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Wright of Shawnee; daughter, Brandi Barrett and husband Shane of Bristow, Okla.; son, Mark Wright and wife, Ashley of Moore, Okla.; grandchildren, Trenton and Elijah Choate and Taylor Stuteville and husband Garrett; niece, Cathy Smith and nephew, Gerald Smith.
A funeral ceremony for Sherry was held July 8, 2022, at the Church of the First Born in Chandler. She was laid to rest at Parkland Cemetery.
Casket bearers included: Shane Barrett, Elijah Choate, Trenton Choate, Justin Wright, Gerald Smith, and Kyle Wright.
Sherry had so much love for God, her country, her family, and her friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral & Cremation Service in Shawnee.
