Shirley Rae Post

Shirley Rae Post, a longtime Stroud resident, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at her home in Stroud with her family by her side. She was 76 years old. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2021 at Stroud First Assembly of God in Stroud, Okla., where she was a member. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Okla.

Shirley was born on July 5, 1945 to Ruel Ray and Willie Pauline (Pettit) Drake. She grew up and attended school in Stroud. Shirley married the love of her life Larry Post on June 8, 1962 at Grace Assembly of God in Oklahoma City. To this union, Kerri, Scott and Sean were born. They made their home in Oklahoma City where they owned a Tasty Freeze and another business for a few years. In 1989, they moved to Douglasville, Ga., and lived there for 15 years. While living in Georgia, Shirley went back to college and earned a certificate in the medical field and began working for a group of Neurologists. Shirley and Larry moved back to Stroud in 2012 where they have lived since.

Shirley always went above and beyond for all occasions, especially the holidays. She loved taking care of her family. She was a talented lady, making wedding cakes, sewing dresses, painting, knitting, crocheting and doing embroidery. In her younger years, she liked to play tennis and bowl in competitive tournaments, even winning several trophies.

Shirley is survived by her husband Larry Post of the home; daughter Kerri Post of Stroud, Scott Post of Haviland, Kansas, Sean Post and wife Heather of Frankfort, Kentucky; sister Brenda Edwards and husband Eddy of Stroud. She is also survived by grandchildren Heather Shivers and husband Gabriel, Erin Crabtree, Tyler Holmes and wife Cheyenne, Brittany Loder and husband Charles, Ashley Skelton and husband Justin and Jack Middleton, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jerry Drake and Bill Drake and sisters Margaret Schultheis and Norma Jean Drake.
