Timothy “Timmy” Marcell Young was born to Alfonza Giles and Hazel Lorene Young on February 25, 1959, in Oklahoma City and raised by his Aunt Anna IV and Olie Long. He died Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the age of 62 years.
A 1977 graduate of Wellston High School, Timmy earned a broadcasting degree from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa and a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. He retired as a teacher at Horace Mann Elementary School in Shawnee, Okla. He was a member of Church of the Living God in Wellston.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister Gloria Jean McMurry.
Survivors include his siblings, Louise Young Stewart, Gary Young, Karen Young Miller and husband Bruce, Keith Young, Carletta Giles Mentz, Renée Giles, Lavonne Giles, Kelvin Kearney and wife Marena; and other family and friends.
Viewing will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 5, 2021, at Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston with family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. A funeral will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021, in the chapel of Lehman Funeral Home, which handled the final arrangements. The Rev. Everett Wallace will officiate with burial following at Clearview Cemetery in Chandler.
