Phyllis Ann Shuey

Funeral services for Phyllis Ann (Sporleder) Shuey of Ardmore, Okla., will be 10 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2022, in the chapel of the Davenport Cemetery.

The Rev. Mike Mitchell will officiate and burial will follow at Davenport Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.

Shuey, formerly of Davenport, was born December 21, 1938, on the Sporleder family homestead north of Davenport. She died Friday, April 1, 2022, in Ardmore at the age of 83 years.

The daughter of Julius M. and Juanita (Castleberry) Sporleder, she married Ronald “Ronnie” Shuey on August 11, 1959, in Davenport.

A 1957 graduate of Davenport High School, she attended Central State College in Edmond. She and her husband owned and operated a service station and propane business in Davenport. She was a teacher’s aide in Davenport Elementary School and a food service director for the Plainview School District in Ardmore. Phyllis also worked for the New Era and The Daily Ardmoreite newspapers.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Davenport.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Shuey; her sister Betty Leake; two brothers, Bill Sporleder and Joe Sporleder; and one greatgranddaughter.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Stephen and Jean Shuey of Tulsa, Okla.; her daughter and son-in-law Rhonda and David Cesa of Ardmore; four grandchildren and their spouses; and six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two brothers, Michael Sporleder, and Don Sporleder and wife Paula, all of Davenport; her sister Barbara Starling of Oklahoma City; her brother-in-law and his wife Vernon and Von Leake of Davenport; and other family and friends.
