Town Talk Members would like to express a truckload of thanks to Stroud Volunteer Firefighters led by Fire Chief Chris Wilson and Volunteer Raphe Thompson and Randy Wright for giving up their Saturday morning on a holiday week-end to begin the process of outlining our historic Main Street businesses with solar lights.
It is a slow and difficult process so they were able to only complete three buildings. We are grateful that the project has begun. City Manager Bob Pearman was also present to help and we appreciate him and all his efforts to make Stroud the best community possible.
Stroud Tag Agency, Cornerstone, Stroud Drug, the Estate Barn, Marshall and Sherry Horn, and the Masons purchased two boxes of lights for each of their buildings so that everything would be paid for, once it is finished.
That is just another example of Stroud businesses and community working together. Town Talk’s goal is to line the
Town Talk’s goal is to line the three main blocks of Main Street with solar lights.
We want to complete one block to see if the ambience is worth the time and effort. We really like what has been completed so far.
The shade awning for the playground in Foster Park has been installed thanks to our City Manager and our City workers. There have already been several Facebook posts commenting on how beneficial this is to the play area with the summer temperatures being so high.
Thanks again to Jon Lowry and Lana Shaffer of First Physicians Business Solutions for spearheading this generous donation to our community.
My dear friend, Mike Sunderland, recently underwent surgery for cancer. Mike and his family moved away while he was still in Middle School, but we have stayed in touch with each other all these years.
His parents were Bobby and Wanda Gail, and Bobby was a much loved pastor of the First Baptist Church in Stroud.
After leaving Stroud Bobby accepted a pastorate in Enid, Oklahoma, and eventually retired from the Southern Baptist Convention in the state of Georgia. Mike and his wife Ann are presently living in Enid, and he is doing well at the moment.
Do keep them in your prayers as they determine the next steps in the healing process.
Stroud is truly a great community with so many caring and loving people.
