1. Update on Fireworks Display
A. The Chamber of Commerce had a great make up event for the Fireworks Display.
B. They shot off fireworks for what seemed like an hour. There were different patterns that exploded in the sky this year with different twist & turns. It wasn’t just the usual big “Boom” with many beautiful colors exploding in the sky representing a display of overhead firing of canons & muskets, with fire a blazing.
C. (FYI) There were 21 different types of Fireworks that we witnessed. Fireworks feature different salt & metal compounds such as sodium for yellow & copper for green. It’s really the science & experimentation with all these compounds that let us know how the Firework is going to react & which one of the 21 different categories of Fireworks were setting alight.
D. The Aerial Repeater is a medium size cube filled with tightly bound tubes; these tubes are small fireworks fused sequentially. Therefore, when the fireworks shoot into the night sky, they have a successful show of one burst & then another with a bang in the air for colors & the effect.
E. We saw the Brocade fireworks which brings a stunning effect of a number of stars trailing in the night sky. As the rocket-type explosion sets off, internal fuses work through the effect, igniting smaller fireworks as it flies. With this, there is a succession effect of falling stars trickling down.
F. The Bombette is a soft firework classified as F2. It is a followon effect deriving from other fireworks such as the Roman Candle. The explosion itself features a single flair climbing high before blasting into many different flares of another color (often white) while falling back down in a willow effect.
G. We saw cake, also called a Barrage; these types of fireworks are collection. The purpose of the cake is to have one box filled to the brim with an assortment of novelty firecrackers & fireworks in order to hold the best fireworks display in the back garden. These small boxes pack-a-punch with everything from the Aerial Repeater to the Roman Candle.
H. The Catherine Wheel is a popular one known as the Ring of Fire. Simply put, a wheel has a rocket angled for propulsion, after the rocket is trailing, smaller firecrackers begin to light the wheel in succession of color & effects.
I. Next, we saw comets, much resembling the true-to-life astronomical marvel of a comet flying through the sky. These types of fireworks leave a trail of sparkle in their flight path.
J. We all love the Cone. The Cone is the Rice Krispy of ground fireworks because it includes all the snap, crackle & pop. It starts life as a cone filled with gunpowder & metals; the F1 Cone does not shoot into the sky, rather using a fountainlike approach with some added novelty firecrackers in the mix.
K. Day Time Fireworks are Smoke Bombs exploding with clouds of color. And, while they don’t fly high in the sky, they make a whiz bang noise & need a fuse to explode.
L. The Falling Leaf has remnant embers that gently sway back & forth as the fall leach down to earth.
M. A Flare Firework has the job of glowing the brightest into the sky. These have the most iconic red flare color.
N. The Flying Fish takes off for a high-flying adventure & has following bangs which results in many smaller trails of embers & sparkles. These Sparkes burst into different directions traveling in a very fast drunken corkscrew motion.
O. The Fountain is graceful & does not have a large explosion. They have a quiet burn so we can watch a stunning simply visual of color. The sparks simply flow out of the top of the fountain & fall to the ground much like a waterfall of fire.
P. The Girandola is one of the most beautiful types of fireworks with nothing much like it. They begin life as a big wheel laid flat with spokes containing various tubes of gunpowder. Thrusten Rockets ignite for lift off & the wheel is set in motion spinning. The Girandola takes off in a spiral flight before a fume releases a barrage of explosions.
Q. Mines: Also known as “Pot a’ Feu” mines have a very short & impactful life as explosive. With the highest noise levels & a variety of flash bangs in the sky.
R. The Parachute does exactly as to what we would expect. They explode in the sky and, as debris falls, small particles glide back down to reality.
S. The Peony is one of the most common of the different categories of Fireworks & are very often seen at the “Best Fireworks Displays” because they bring an immediate sense of beauty, nostalgia of joy. The Peony Firework rides a rocket into the sky & explodes to reveal a gigantic circular flower of colored sparkles. These can even have designs that show gradient colors for the petals of the Peony.
T. The Willow when exploded in the sky can often look like a Peony; however, the effect continues as it has delicate golden trails that stay high in the sky before slowly trickling down for ten seconds.
