1. Update on 56th Annual Meeker Parade & Rodeo Sponsored by the Meeker Roundup Club
A. After you attend the Rodeo on Friday night, June 25th, be sure to come early to Main Street for the Guthrie Gun Fighters show at 9:30 & 10:00 AM. They will have another Gunfight at 10:30 AM that will start the parade on Saturday, June 26th. This year there will be two extra classes added: the Farm Tractor & the Farm Feed Truck. Come enjoy Best of Show, Best Float, Best 4 Footed, Cars, Trucks, Hot Rods, Horses, & Area Rodeo Clubs, Cows & others.
B. Sweethearts of the Rodeo will attend the Parade & put on Special Activities at the Rodeo. This is a must see that these young beautiful ladies & their horses put on several shows at each Rodeo. You do not want to miss these gals & their horses in action.
C. Events for the Rodeo this year will be Saddle Bronc, Bareback, Tie Down CR, Ladies Breakaway, Team Roping, Open Barrels, Jr. Barrels, Peewee Barrels, Bull Riding with an additional $500 added for the Bull Riders. Admission is $10 for adults, $5.00 for 12 & under and 6 & under are free. Rockin R Rodeo Co. will supply the Rough Stock.
2. The Pioneers
A. Another must see will be the Pioneers of the parade. The Pioneers will lead the parade this year as Grand Marshalls. These are the individuals that have helped lead & develop the Town of Meeker to where it is today. Come show them our appreciation for their leadership, time & money that they have invested into our community.
3. Update at the Library
A. Friends of the Library announced that the Summer Reading Program will be held again this year at the Library, June 25th. This year it will be a one-day event. Call for details.
4. Update on Fireworks Display
A. Independence Day celebration will be held July 3rd at the Meeker Lake Area, approx. dark thirty. The Meeker Fire Department will be in charge of Fire & Safety again this year.
B. Come join & enjoy the food trucks, vendors, music and all the fun we have every year at this event. Meeker’s Police Department will conduct parking again this year. They did a great job last year. More to come about this great event.
5. Update on Burning Limbs
A. It is reported that the New Mayor, Jeff Wilbourn, his sons & others collected a lot of limbs this week & hauled them to the Sewer Plant to be burned. Thank you, Mayor & Group.
6. Update on Swimming Program
A. Meeker Residents are welcome to the Summer Swim Program. This is held at the Prague City pool. Thanks to Laverne Babinchak at BancFirst for details (405) 279-3535.
