Town Talk is working as quickly as we can on the mini-golf course. I know everyone is anxious. I’ve also heard from parents that their kids are asking when it will be ready. Hopefully, by the time you receive your paper this week the fence will be in place, and we can begin moving in the golf holes. We, too, are ready to have things up and running. We appreciate the interest shown by everyone.
I received a nice note from Dean Criess this past week. Dean currently resides in Massachusetts but is a Stroud High School graduate. He has a veteran’s banner hanging on Main Street.
It’s great when our graduates want to be a part of their hometown. Paul Mercer, another Stroud graduate, will be our next veteran to be added to our Walk of Honor. He will be sharing his banner with Stroud alum Raymond Black. Banners are still available for purchase so just let me know if you or a loved one would want to be included.
The flags looked great on Main Street. I would love to see them flying every day and have had many citizens tell me the same thing.
If you see our City Manager out and about, you might mention this to him if you’d like to keep flags flying on Main Street all year long.
The sunshade has arrived for the playground in Foster Park so that is exciting new! A big thank you to John Lowry and Lana Shaffer with First Physicians Capital Group, our hospital management company, for their foundation’s donation to this project. It is going to make July much more pleasant for our kiddos wanting to play on the equipment. The City will be installing it as soon as their schedule allows.
Bible School starts July 5th at First Baptist Church. Sign up will be June 30th. For more details contact Debbie Henley at the church office. It’s a great summer activity for your children. You do not have to be a member of FBC to attend. This year’s theme is Destination Dig so “dig in” and don’t miss opportunity for your kids to learn more about Jesus.
Even though I spend a great deal of time in Stroud, my real home since 1999 has been Bartlesville, OK. My husband and I will be moving to Tulsa and will close on a house there this week.
It will cut my drive time to Stroud in half. Hopefully, this will allow me to continue to help with Stroud projects while spending more time at home with my husband, Larry.
He has been very patient with me these past several years while I have baby-sat my great nephews and devoted time to Stroud. Our new home is just down the street from Stroud alum Bette Terry Mount and a couple of miles away from another Stroud alum Tom Evans. I have gotten to know Tom through all of Town Talk’s activities and we have become great friends.
It will be fun to reconnect in Tulsa with ole’ Stroud friends. Before she died the former Ruth Ann Williams was living just a block from the home I purchased. It really is a small world.
Our next holiday will be here before we know it. The Fourth of July is just around the corner. Be sure to check out our local merchants for all your celebration needs. Have a great week and thank you for choosing to shop………………….local first!
