A Stroud driver faces two felonies and two misdemeanors following his arrest by Stroud police officers in June.
Mac Allen Gaines, 37, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, both felonies.
Misdemeanor counts of threatening to perform an act of violence and driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor were also filed against Gaines.
Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk set a $6,000 bond for Gaines and he made his initial appearance July 8.
Special Judge Emily Mueller ordered he reappear at 1:30 p.m. on Sep. 2.
Count 1 accuses Gaines of hitting Justin Darrington with a motor vehicle weapon and pinning his legs between Gaines’ vehicle and that of Darrington with the intent to harm Darrington on June 1, a felony.
The second felony charges him with maliciously leaving the scene of an accident at 538 S. 3rd Avenue, Stroud, in Lincoln County in which the Silver Ford Taurus the defendant was driving collided with and struck a vehicle owned by Darrington.
The result was Darrington allegedly suffered injury to his legs.
Gaines is also accused of threatening to perform an act of violence, a misdemeanor, with a baseball bat threatening Darrington and Rica Jessepe to cause harm to them.
In the fourth count, a misdemeanor, Gaines is also charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol by driving and operating his Ford Taurus on S. 3rd Avenue in Stroud.
