Enough with the phone calls

I’m fed up with Spam calls, robo calls, whatever they are called. Not sure about your thoughts on these, but they are simply annoying.

One day last week when the cell phone rang, it showed I was getting a Spam risk call from some foreign country. A few minutes later before I deleted it, I looked and it showed that it had come from Calhoun Falls, S.C.

Like I know where that might be.

A couple of hours later, it rang again and it showed a telemarketer was phoning me from San Francisco, Mo. There may be such a town, but if it exists, I’ve never heard of it.

About two minutes later, I checked and it said that call came from Arcadia, Okla.

I have no idea what is taking place. I do know, however, I’m plenty tired of it.

I thought Congress was supposed to put a stop to this. It’s long past time they do something about it.

What’s disturbing to me is apparently how easy it is for these people to obtain our personal information. It’s a matter of privacy, or at least that is my understanding.

But companies we all do business with are selling off this information to others.

My wife checked through her mom’s cell phone the other evening because she didn’t know how to delete all the spam risk and robo numbers she had received. My wife told her mom she could clear those all out for her.

It didn’t take too long, but she had to delete a total of 31 calls her mother had gotten over a short period of time.

Several years ago I remembered calling and signing up and doing something that was intended to prevent me from receiving all these unwanted calls.

I can’t recall exactly what I had to do other than make a call, but it sure didn’t stop them very long from calling. It’s really become aggravating because the calls can come at any time day or night.

Not only is it phone calls, it’s also text messages.

These calls that I receive like from Canada, Mexico, and other far away places or just annoying.

In this day and time, we all shouldn’t have to mess or deal with them. So many of them are scams, intended to prey on people who don’t know otherwise.

The best thing we can do to help combat this sort of thing is reach out to our men and women in Congress and impress upon them how important this issue is.
