Baseball
Carney
- For the week, 1-0. Win over Olive (16-5). Now 1-0 for the season.
Catcher Lane Ramsey tripled and drove in three runs to key the win over Olive. Paytan Edgar picked up the win on the mound, striking out 12 in five innings of work while not allowing a hit.
Chandler
- For the week, 0-2. Losses to Henryetta (5-3 and 120). Now 0-2 for the season and 0-2 in district.
The Lions opened the season last week with a 5-3 district loss at home to Henryetta. Christian Goeller and Sawyer Sims had singles for Chandler and Goeller, Bryson Taylor and Maddox Metheny had stolen bases.
Taylor also turned in six innings on the mound, scattering six hits and striking out six.
The teams shifted to Henryetta for Tuesday’s game, which the Knights won, 12-0.
Garrett Garner had the only two hits for the Lions.
Davenport
- For the week, 2-3. Wins over Oilton (15-2) and Olive (7-0). Losses to Drumright (9-1), Mulhall-Orlando (102) and Cushing (2-0). Now 2-3 for the season.
Reece Murfin and Ivan Morris had singles against Drumright and Chase Mitchell had a double.
Against Mulhall-Orlando, Laken Durbin had a pair of doubles while Murfin had a double and an RBI.
Mitchell started on the mound, striking out five and allowing three earned runs in 2.2 innings. Trevor Edwards and Brennan Stokes finished up in relief.
Cushing put up single runs in the fifth and sixth in Thursday’s game.
Tyler Gilkison doubled for Davenport. Against Oilton, the Bulldogs pounded out a dozen hits, with Murfin collecting three singles and three runs batted in. Durbin and Carter Marshall had a pair of hits each. Edwards had a double and Mitchell tripled.
Mitchell picked up the win over mound, going four innings and giving up four hits while striking out four.
Edwards and Gilkison teamed up to throw a threehitter against Olive. Edwards started and picked up the win, breezing nine batters and giving up two hits in four innings. Gilkison allowed one hit in three innings while fanning six.
McLoud
- For the week, 0-3. Losses to Purcell (19-9 and 5-3) and Prague (7-6). Now 0-3 for the season and 0-2 in district.
Kaden Mendenhall and Rylan Mitchell belted home runs in the first game against Purcell. Mitchell also had two singles and drove home five runs. Justus Rooker had two singles and an RBI.
Logan Johnston and Parker Ryan had doubles and Ryan had a pair of RBI.
Mitchell had another single against Prague, giving him 5-for-10 over the first three games.
Chase Bane and Ryan had doubles.
Meeker
For the week, 2-0. Wins over Okemah (19-2) and Hinton (24-0). Now 2-0 for the season and 1-0 in district.
The Bulldogs pounded Okemah in their opener, bagging nine hits and picking up 14 walks.
Jason Key and Cooper Spencer had two hits each and Titus Grimes drove in a pair of runs. Castin Schafer and Dayson Lawson had doubles and Key legged out a pair of triples.
Seven Bulldog pitchers worked an inning apiece and recorded 15 strikeouts. Maverick Herring and Key struck out the side in their innings.
Against Hinton, the Bulldogs hammered nine hits, drew a dozen walks and scored 24 runs in three innings at bat.
Key, Herring, Schafer and Lawson had two hits each. Schafer scored four times while Key, Herring and Spencer crossed the plate three times each.
North Rock Creek
- For the week, 2-0. Win over Norman (4-2). Loss to Oklahoma Christian (8-3) Oklahoma Christian got out to a 5-0 lead and was able to hang on in the season opener.
Hunter Bertram had a pair of knocks and scored a run for NRC and Kona Paningsoro, Owin Payne and Drake Clemmons had RBI.
The Cougars got only two hits against Norman, but up a four-run fourth inning and Lane Scallorn and Paningsoro combined for a three-hitter on the mound.
Prague
- For the week, 3-0. Wins over Del City (4-1), McLoud (7-6) and Casady (16-8). Now 3-0 for the season and
0-0 in district
Clay Lavalley and Henry Hankins combined for a two-hitter against Del City. Lavalley threw the first five innings, striking out nine, and Hankins pitched the final two.
Lavalley and Talan Thomas tripled. The Red Devils trailed by one in the top of the sixth against McLoud, but Lavalley scored on a passed ball and Kolten Yeager doubled to score Hayden Kinslow.
Thomas and Kinslow had a pair of RBI each and Lavalley had two hits.
Yeager got the win on the mound, throwing four innings of no-hit ball and breezing six.
Jeremiah Trevizo homered, doubled and drove in three runs and Lavalley tripled, singled twice and knocked in four runs to lead the Red Devils past Casady.
Prague pounded out 17 hits, with Braxton Carpenter adding a double and two singles and Thomas hitting three singles.
Stroud
- For the week, 0-1. A loss to Preston (10-2).
Gage Bailey poled a two-run homer for both of the Tigers’ runs against Preston. Jeremiah Cropp added a single.
Slow pitch
Davenport
-For the week, 2-0. Wins over Glencoe (16-1 and 8-5) Now 2-0 for the season.
Davenport unloaded for 11 runs in the first inning and claimed a three-inning run rule in the opener against Glencoe. Gabby Murfin had a single, a double and three RBI to pace the attack. Caden Blair had two hits and an RBI, Landry Miller had a double and Jaz Williams tripled.
In the second game, the Lady Bulldogs put up six runs in the fourth inning to erase an 8-5 Glencoe lead.
Miller had a double and single and two RBI, Rayne Williams had two hits, Briley Hauk had a pair of singles, Ashlyn Walker had a double and Murfin had a triple and an RBI.
Meeker
- For the week 1-0. A win over Crooked Oak (11-0) Now 1-0 for the season.
Layla Carter homered and drove in four runs, freshman Hazel Wahpepah had two doubles and a single for the Lady Bulldogs against Crooked Oak.
Rylee Standlee joined the hit parade with a single and a double, Kennedy Harris had two singles, Raygin Thomas had a single and a double and Brinkleigh Stinger doubled.
Standlee also picked up the win in the circle.
Stroud
- For the week, 1-0. Win over Depew (9-7) Now 1-0 for the season.
The Lady Tigers put up five runs in the first and went to drop Depew, 9-7, in the season opener.
Miyah Clark had two doubles and a single, Brynleigh Bell had two singles and three RBI, Carly Miller had a pair of hits, Sally Campbell had a double and two RBI and Carlee Williams had a triple.
