Candidates named for Girls, Boys State

The 2020 American Legion Auxiliary Oklahoma Girls State and Oklahoma American Legion Boys State were cancelled due to COVID-19.

“Boys and Girls State are very prestigious programs,” District 4A Commander George Wooden said.

“Past attendees of these programs have been elected to Congress, Senate and even the President of the United State. Many very successful business people have also attended. We are very sad that Boys and Girls State were cancelled due to COVID-19, but nothing is more important than the safety of our young people.”

The candidates selected in Chandler for Girls State were Rachel Wayland, Baylee Bowen, Cobie Rickner and Alison Conway. For Boys State, the Chandler candidates were Dalton

For Boys State, the Chandler candidates were Dalton Alsip, Bryston Smith, Jacob Moehle, Robert Thompson, Jared Stone and Tyson Rivas.

The candidates selected in Stroud for Girls State were Madison Ham and Aubrey Barret.

For Boys State, the Stroud Candidate was Chasen Neuman.

The candidates selected in Wellston for Girls State were Emma Janes, Tricity Ross, Hailey Wallace and Shealee Paull.

For Boys State, the session was cancelled before the decision on the Wellston candidates was finalized. However, five boys qualified, including Jacob Saxon. The candidates selected in Prague for Girls State

The candidates selected in Prague for Girls State were Graceyn Hyden, Lillyana Sestak, Callie Roberts and Gabby Martin.

For Boys State, the Prague candidates were Zachary Grooms, Parker Bailey, Timothy Brill and Alexander Griffith.

The candidate in Meeker for Boys State was Aidan Williams.
