Lions 56, Star-Spencer 12

The drama Friday night lasted about 10 seconds.

That’s how long it took Kaden Jones to grab the opening kickoff, break to the sideline in front of the Chandler bench and sprint to the end zone.

When he cleared the goal line, Chandler had an early lead and it was clear that the Lions outmatched the visiting Bobcats from Star-Spencer.

By the time it was over, Chandler had built a 56-12 lead and spread a lot of playing time throughout the roster.

The win lifted the Lions’ record to 3-3 for the season and 2-1 in district.

They host Millwood Thursday in another district game, then visit Meeker the following week.

Chandler didn’t sit on its lead for long.

On the Lions’ second possession, Jarin Greenfield broke clear on the right side and hauled in a 17-yard touchdown pass with less than four minutes expired, then Cas men Hill ran for the conversion, making it 14-0.

Four minutes later, Hill was in the end zone after a 15-yard scoring run, then came back with a 25-yard touchdown run with 2:20 left in the half.

Greenfield caught a conversion pass after the second touchdown, making it 28-0.

The Bobcats got on the board with a minute left to go in the first period, but Chandler was back to work almost immediately.

Stefaun Mackey ran for a 7-yard score on the first play of the second quarter and Greenfield kicked the point after.

Carson Clagg added another rushing touchdown shortly halftime. That and another Greenfield make it 42-6 at halftime.

Sophomore quarterback Alec Jackson ran for a 10-yard score two minutes into the second half and for a 5-yarder just before the end of the third period to account for the Lions’ final score.

Star-Spencer sandwiched a touchdown between Jackson’s scores.
