When the temperature starts to drop and the Friday night lights turn on, the Stroud Tigers will have a new head coach leading them on the sidelines.

Joshua Presley is the new head coach of the Stroud football team.

“I would like to thank our administration and school board for the opportunity they’ve given me,” he said. “And I want to thank Coach Elerick for doing such a great job for 13 years and leading the program.”

Presley said he is super excited for the season and this new position.

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given,” he said. “Stroud has a great football history, a great football tradition, and I’m just excited for the opportunity ahead. I think we have a chance to have a really good season.”

Presley graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from East Central University.

After graduation, he taught and coached for two years in Hennesey, Oklahoma.

Presley has been working as the Defensive Coordinator for the Stroud Tigers for 13 years.

Presley said he is most looking forward to being able to represent this great town in a positive way and lead a great group of young men on the field every week.

Presley said his favorite aspect of high school football is the team camaraderie and being a part of the family atmosphere that comes with the tight knit group of coaches and players.

“You just can’t replace that,” he said. “The bond that you build with coaches and players, there’s nothing like it.”
